Spanish maestro Sergio Garcia, the 2018 SMBC Singapore Open champion, won his 16th European Tour title at the weekend with a one-shot victory at the KLM Open in Amsterdam.
Garcia posted an 18-under-par total of 270 at The International to ease ahead of Nicolai Hojgaard of Denmark.
“Amazing. We had a great week and great to win again. I played well all week under pressure. It wasn’t easy, there were a couple of tough moments today (Sunday) but I hung on tough, that’s the most important thing,” said Garcia, the 2017 Masters champion.
Garcia lifted the title in the SMBC Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club in 2018 by five shots from joint runners up Satoshi Kodaira of Japan and South Africa’s Shaun Norris.
In the defence of his title in January this year, he finished joint seventh behind winner Jazz Janewattananond of Thailand.
The 2020 Singapore Open will be played over the Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club from 16-19 January.
