Asian Tour number one Gavin Green of Malaysia, Korea’s Giwan Kim and Danthai Boonma of Thailand made fast starts to the third round on Saturday afternoon before play was suspended because of the threat of lightning.
The trio each birdied two of their opening four holes to move to six under par for the tournament, one behind halfway leaders Ryo Ishikawa of Japan and Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat.
Ishikawa, Chapchai and Tirawat Kaewsiribandit had just teed off in the final group when the hooter sounded to halt play.
Australia’s Shaun Norris, a winner on the Japan Tour last season, and American Casey O’Toole were standing over birdie putts on the first green to tie the lead when the third round was suspended.
Masters champion Sergio Garcia, playing in the same group, missed his birdie attempt.
The world number 10 had a frustrating time on the greens when he resumed his second round on Saturday morning, missing several makeable birdie putts on the back nine.
In contrast, playing partner Ishikawa shot four birdies in 10 holes for a 66 and the joint lead.
