High five for prolific Prayad

There has been no stopping the hugely talented Prayad Marksaeng since his victory at the SMBC Singapore Open in 2017.

He continued to take the Japan Senior Tour by storm on Sunday with victory in the Fancl Classic, his fifth win of the season.

The 52-year-old Thai wrapped up his 13th triumph in the senior ranks with a play-off victory over Gregory Meyer of the United States.

He won at the third play-off hole after his final round 65 saw him close a three-shot overnight deficit. Prayad finished the 54-hole event at Susono Country Club, Shizuoka, on 13 under.

A fortnight ago, Prayad was successful in the Maruhan Cup Taiheiyo Club Seniors Tournament just a week after a 10th place finish in The Senior Open at St Andrews, Scotland.

The irrepressible Prayad is in prime position to win the Japan Senior Tour for a third successive season although he does not plan to play in all the remaining events this year.

Prayad’s victory in the SMBC Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club in 2017 was his 10th victory on the Asian Tour and sixth success on the Japan Golf Tour.
