SMBC Singapore Open champion Jazz Janewattananond won another national Open at the weekend as his season keeps getting better.
The 23-year-old Thai, victorious at Sentosa Golf Club in January, lifted the Kolon Korea Open for his fourth Asian Tour victory.
Jazz closed with a one-over-par 72 for a six under 278 total at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club to triumph by a stroke over Korea’s Inn-choon Hwang.
He became the first overseas winner of the event since American Rickie Fowler in 2011 and reclaimed the lead in the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
The victory capped a great run of form for the rising star including a tie for 14th place at the PGA Championship and a couple of top-five finishes on the Japan Tour.
He earned his playing rights there with his SMBC Singapore Open win at Sentosa Golf Club.
Jazz is expected to rise to 52nd in the Official World Golf Ranking – the highest position of his career. That will put him in touching distance of a spot in the World Golf Championships – FedEx St. Jude Invitational next month.
The young gun already has The Open at Royal Portrush in July to look forward to after sealing his place in the field with his SMBC Singapore Open success.
